Farmers' perception of the epidemic of African Swine Fever in Nigeria

Livestock diseases constitute a great threat to protein availability in Nigeria. It is thus necessary eramine how much farmers know about some deadly prevalent their stock as it would afford the farmer timely re-adjustment prevent foreseeable losses. The focus of this study was determine farmers' level awareness African Swine Fever (ASF) Agege Area Lagos State, Primary data were collected with use questionnaire administered one hundred and twenty (120) respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. Twenty seven (27) pig farms also visited obtain 017-farm on mortality during ASF epidemic. revealed that there inadequate early symptoms characteristic signs among respondents. As such 95 percent recorded. Chi square analysis showed no significant relationship between location farms. There population contact Extension agents. then concluded extension services are currently inadequate. therefore recommends be developed ensure institutional support cases epidemic disease outbreaks. More so, possible ways should sought steady flow agricultural information from research institutes universities ultimate users. Preventive measures however taught avoid incidence future Lastly, advised form associations could serve pressure group sector specific emergencies.
